Formed In 2003, The West 79th Street Funk Jazz Band Was Formerly A House Band For “The Kitchen On 43rd Street,” “Sunny’s Spot,” & “DoBoy’s Dozen’s Coffee Shop,” All Once Located In Leimert Park, CA. The Bandleader George Woods Grew Up Near West 79th Street On Figueroa In South Central Los Angeles, CA, Where He Began His Music Ventures Representing The Music, Creativity, And Legacy Of The Historic Central Ave., Once A Jazz Mecca. As The Band Matured, It Expanded To Performing Private Events, Weddings, And Live Concerts. The West 79th Street Funk Jazz Band Is Focused On Bringing A Message Of Social Justice And Life Experiences, Creating Original Music Celebrating Funk, Jazz, Hip-Hop, And Soul.
