Los Angeles based vocalist Phoenix brings rich, soulful vibes to every song she sings. Her unforgettable voice effortlessly lends itself to Jazz, Blues, Neo Soul and R&B. She has the type of vocal tone that makes you want to close your eyes and bask in the smoothness of it all.
Born and raised in the UK, Phoenix began singing at an early age. She grew up in a musical family, naturally harmonizing with her mother who sang, acted and danced professionally. Throughout her childhood she accompanied her mother to every type of gig in every type of venue, which unknowingly embedded in her a vision of her future in the City of Angels, far from that small village in the English countryside. Once in Los Angeles it didn’t take long for Phoenix to link up with musicians and producers who appreciated her precise pitch, silky tone and soulful interpretations. She has performed at some of the most famous venues in Los Angeles, including the original House of Blues, The Viper Room, The Roxy, and many others.
While working on her own music, Phoenix began receiving requests to write music for and work with up and coming singers. She unexpectedly found her niche in vocal production and background singing/arranging. She also discovered a true gift for vocal coaching inexperienced artists, improving their performances on the spot with instant vocal tweaks and a healthy dose of cheerleading and encouragement. She has been a key component in the studio for many young singers, often providing an important bridge between the producer and inexperienced vocalist. She continues her vocal coaching career and feels that being the mentor and teacher is perhaps her favorite musical role.
Phoenix has spent the last several years focusing on helping other artists behind the scenes, but recently she finds her vocal talents in demand in front of the camera. A captivating soulful singer, Phoenix has been influenced heavily by artists like Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill and Jill Scott. She can bend her versatile voice to just about any genre of music but when it comes to what Phoenix loves to sing, it’s all about the Neo Soul. The Hip Hop, Jazz and 70’s Soul influences in her style are unmistakable.
